When I started pumping, I thought getting the pump itself was the big step. Pick a model, get it through insurance, done. Insurance, FSA, and HSA Coverage
Here’s the part that surprised me: many of these replacement parts are covered by insurance. And if they’re not, you can usually use your FSA or HSA card to pay for them.
When I got my pump, I used the Aeroflow website and it was so easy. My insurance fully covered the Spectra S1, plus I found out later they also covered six breastfeeding classes and even milk storage bags. A month into pumping, I learned you’re supposed to replace the pieces regularly and thankfully, Aeroflow made it simple to order the replacements too.
What I Wish I Knew
I went a few weeks with my output being low and thinking it was me. I even got mastitis and I wasn’t sure why. Turns out the duckbills were worn out and as soon as I switched my supply was the same again and hard boobs went away. I now set a reminder on my calendar to replace the pieces.
